Can anyone recommend a good rug that doesn't "shed". Anytime I have people over my rug winds up looking like this.

Please help me find the least intrusive blackout options for what seems like our impossibly-shaped bedroom windows!

As the title describes, we have what seem to be impossibly-shaped windows for an attractive cover. The blinds that came with the place are not attractive, nor do they do nearly enough to keep out the piercing morning light. The arches on top make internal blinds difficult, yet I hate the idea of cluttering up a relatively small room with large curtains, or simply hanging roller shade right on the wall. I thought about a large curtain hanging from near the ceiling (there is a wardrobe to the right behind which it can be partially hidden when pulled back), but I can't find a bar or wire form which to hang it that doesn't look like cheap clutter. At this point I'm ready to have an ugly bedroom if it means sleeping past 5:30am, but I didn't want to give up hope without asking the experts here. Any advice on options or products would be greatly appreciated.

Newb question about interior painting, painters, and contractors.

Hi guys- not sure if this is the right place to ask this but, I couldn't find another sub that fits so here goes (will gladly post somewhere else if needed):

Background info: I'm managing family property while they live elsewhere. Hired a contractor about a month ago for painting formal living and dining room walls, a bedroom ceiling and walls, and tiling the bedroom floor. As such, all the curtains and mounted televisions were taken down by the contractors. Upon completion, the main contractor informed me that they rarely replace curtains or appliances. Is this true? Is that common practice amongst contractors that they don't replace what they disrupt? I honestly just don't know, have already planned on replacing them myself. But in the future, I just HAVE to know...

Bonus question for those willing and able: the painters got some primer and paint on the bottoms of the crown molding. The paint is an off white/ sandy colored water based paint. They didn't cut very well in some spots so it almost looks like no tape was used, and being a brown colored molding this means the white is very bright against it. I notice it plain as day (but have no prior experience for comparison so who am I to judge?) . Again, contractor informed me that due to the nature of the crown molding, that it was made from Formica and there's original dark paint underneath, he wouldn't be able to clean it up without scraping it off and therefore damaging the molding. Again, is there truth to this? It just doesn't make sense to my pea brain that water based paint would not be able to come off, aside from the fact that he seemed to rush to completion since he took two extra weeks to finish using a one man crew instead of the promised three.

Please help, /r/interiordesign! You're my only hope!!

(Okay it's definitely not that serious but I would like to be informed than not!)

Kitchen design for short people

We are working with an interior designer but I just want to get more feedback on this one, as my brain is freezing up at this point with all the decisions to be made.

I'm 5'0 and hubby is about 5'10-ish. Are the heights for the counter, upper cabs, and microwave going to work for me? Should I adjust them lower?

What to use on patio sliding door?

I have a sliding patio door and it currently has vertical blinds. I want to change them. Any idea what I could use to cover the window instead of the verticals? It gets bright intense light. The blinds are badly faded from the Houston sun.

interior wall colors

I'm repainting the entire interior of my home. Ceilings will be white. Trim will all be white. I'm wanting to know if I should paint all the walls the same neutral taupe or if I do bedrooms in soft colors, if that would be ok. I may be selling the house in the next few yrs. What are the new color trends for wall color?
